That sucks, hope you are under warranty. I've not heard of a crack forming late in a cook before. Most seem to happen when temp is climbing.

It’s unfortunate but it would suck if you had to buy a new base. Minor inconvenience. This is why you buy BGE.

Just realized my base is cracked also. 2nd time in 2 years.At least I have the warranty. PITA though.What's the deal on the XL bands? Haven't heard anything lately. Mine have been giving me grief. Top doesn't seal in back unless I push down on it after closing.SE PA

Bummer. When you get the new base my suggestion is that you realign the nest so the cross brace is in the back.Large Egg, PGS A40 gasser.
