Any franchises sell lump other than HD?

It seems that premium lump is expensive to ship and I don't use enough that I need to buy a pallet. I know some of you guys spare no expense to buy fuel for the $1K grill, but I don't. Just a personal choice. I have bought bags of FOGO and RW and love it, but not enough to order it regularly. So...
Am I overlooking any obvious franchises that sell lump?
The only one I know is Home Depot. I buy RO there, it's fine, good price, pieces are getting smaller or maybe it's my tolerance for dust.
I have noticed food stores carrying lump, but it is usually in small $9 bags. Those small bags are good for a cook and a half if I'm filling the ring.
I do really like the KamodoJoe lump when I can get it at Costco (huge pieces, nice burn) but it's totally random when they'll have it.
Thanks for any tips! Just looking for options other than mail order. I'm in Maryland, NW of DC.

Agree, Ace Hardware. Sometimes Academy Sports has a few different ones.Rockwall, Tx LBGE, Minimax, 22" Blackstone, Pizza Party Bollore. Cast Iron Hoarder.

Check your local egg dealers. I know BGE charcoal is just expensive RO, but the egg dealer near me now carries Rockwood as well.
NOLA -
You can go online and order RW from Ace and have it shipped to your store. 1 bag if you want. There was a good sale earlier this year, could buy 4 for $20 each.

Over the past many years, I have gotten in the habit of checking all the local stores in my area. Even out of my area when I travel. Besides HD what other major hardware stores do you have in your area? I know in MN, near my parents, they have Menards. Living in the South, most places stock lump all year long. If you are OK with RO, you are probably not going to find a better priced lump. When you stop into HD for ANYTHING, check out the lump. Look for a new shipment with full looking bags. As @RRP does, pick one up and flip it to get a feel for how many small pieces are at the bottom. Our larger grocery store chains also carry bigger bags of nice lump. I always watch for sales.Thank you,DarianGalveston Texas

Lowes carries a few varieties including KJ near me anyway

Locally (Virginia), I can find brands of lump at Home Depot, Lowes, Ace, Walmart, Target, and most grocery stores. It should be pretty easy to find suppliers in your area.XL & MM BGE, 36" Blackstone - Newport News, VA -

Great tips, thanks!
I did check a local Ace Hardware during lunch (they came up on a "grill store" google search) but all they stock is Cowboy. I'll check out the deliver-to-store option that @GrillSgt mentioned. If I can get RW delivered for $20 a bag, that's worth it.
The food store stuff all seems the same. I swear, it's one manufacturer (probably RO) doing private label bags for everyone.
Thanks for the KJ/Costco link, @HeavyG
My egg dealer is sadly, out of the egg business now. All they had was BGE brand anyway, for a considerable markup.
Also found out that my local Lowe's stocks KJ for $25/20 lbs. bag. Not Costco prices, but it's stocked.

They don't have any sales going, just MSRP, but that free ship to store option is nice. Think I'll get some. Notable options were;GrillSgt said:You can go online and order RW from Ace and have it shipped to your store. 1 bag if you want. There was a good sale earlier this year, could buy 4 for $20 each.
-Rockwood, 20 lbs - $27
-Kamodo Joe, 20 lbs - $27
-Black Diamond CharWood - $22 (1.18 cu. ft, which they say is equal to a 22 lbs. bag)
Has anyone ever tried the Black Diamond boxes before? Never heard of it.

Stay away from center cut charcoal.

Only $20 when on sale. Regularly $26.99, but they have 15% discounts frequently. http://www.acehardware.com/search/index.jsp?kwCatId=&kw=charcoal&origkw=charcoal&f=Taxonomy/ACE/19541496&sr=1

I bought many boxes of the other brand that many people laughed at because it claimed center cut on the box. It was good stuff. Never would have paid the full retail price but the sale price at Lowe's was fantastic.DoubleEgger said:Stay away from center cut charcoal.Thank you,DarianGalveston Texas -

Sometimes its cheaper in the stores. If it's not on the shelf and the manager orders it for you, it might be cheaper too.
TAKE10NOW for $10 off $100
SPR15CC for $15 off $125
.....on acehardware.com through the end of the month.

I only bought one box and don't see myself getting any more, but that stuff started fast and gave clean smoke faster than any lump I have used. For weeknight cooks and basic grilling I wouldn't talk anybody out of trying it out.Photo Egg said:

In cooking, often we implement steps for which we have no explanations other than ‘that’s what everybody else does’ or ‘that’s what I have been told.’ Dare to think for yourself. -
Picked up a few bags recently... $10/bag is hard to beat. Also got a bunch of rock wood on sale at Ace. Used to order Fogo from amazon prime but prices haven’t been worth it for a long time. Best was firecraft free delivery.... nothing like someone else hauling 6 bags of lump to my front door!fishlessman said:every butcher shop near me has a couple brands, but i just buy cowboy at the supermarket where its convenient. hard to beat royal oak at hd when its on sale thoughChicago, IL - Large and Small BGE - Weber Gasser and Kettle -
