for a year or better the simple to use DOT from ThermoWorks has intrigued me. But I already had other cable style so why buy another?
Well, I put my old ones to a pass or fail test and found 2 of them failed, so they got pitched! Then by luck TW had another one of their open box sales for 30% off so I bought two. They just arrived and I love them! The winning attributes? Simplicity plus the probe can read to 572 (who cooks meat to that internal temperature?) but the cable withstands 700 degree exposure short term. So dot dot

Don’t know the ins and outs of the Dot, but was recently thinking it might be time for a Smoke. I am a fan of the Thermoworks products. Well-made and reliable.

I love it, battery seems to last for ever.
It would be nice if it had a silicone guard or something for you to grab on the probe because that baby gets hot!       No problem to pull it real quick with your fingers but it will get you if trying to probe around with out cooling.

Had a fraternity bro back in the 60's who came from a long line of proud US Navy men and after graduation in 1966 he planned to sign up with an easy (at that time) entry as a second LT.

After a keg party one night he passed out and somebody with a black Magic Marker put ...---... on his forehead! Back then a permanent MM was like a penetrating dye and even after days he still had a trace of that marking! BTW nobody ever fessed up to that deed!

I woke up once with a toy car in my ass.  I think I fell on it by accident.

Texting is so 2015. Hands free is where it's at.  I can even turn on lights without moving from the couch, or garage.

My oldest (6 yrs I think or older) Thermopen stopped working in December and I had a heck of a time getting the back off to check out the battery. Finally did and ordered one. It hasn’t had an issue since that day and I haven’t replaced the battery yet. So . - .

my Thermopen is now 17 years old and still running with the original battery! Can't ask for better than that!

OTOH my wife had a metering gizmo which had two probes. When inserted into the soil of a houseplant the degree of moisture was registered. When the battery died I had to special order the replacement. It was a 15 volt the size of half of a AAA battery. That damn thing cost me $11 and the unit drained the battery overnight! Lesson learned so I pitched it!

I agree, but I have no metal to attach it to so I plan to make a simple stand so I can see it from inside the house.
