Broken bolt!

So I was changing out my gasket today and I developed a problem. As I was putting the dome back on and tightening on the bolts one of the bolts twisted clean off. Any advice on if Lowe’s would have a suitable replacement bolt or will I have to go through a dealer or something like that? Any advice is appreciated.

Most hardware at the big box stores are from China. Do your have a good hardware store where you live? Take the broken pieces in and buy replacements. If no good hardware store available see your dealer, or order from the mothership. Sounds like you were lucky this time!

Your dealer should have piles of them. There are extras sent with every egg.

I believe those are called a kep bolt with an external star washer. Probably won't find one at the depot or Lowes. Try your dealer or the manufacturer. Don't mean to rub salt but why take the dome off to replace the gasket and what does the hinge bolt have to do with tightening the band?

I was always under the impression that the dome removed was the best way to clean the rim off residual gasket and then replace. My local dealer is gonna get me a spare they had so all is well. Thanks.
