Himalayan Salt Block
GrillSgt
Posts: 2,507
I received a large salt block for Christmas and would like to check it out. The instructions say it is best for quick cooks. Seems like it would be just as good on a gasser as an egg or kettle. Anyone have experience with these have any advice or suggestions. Thanks.

They are best with quick cooks. Too much salt is imparted to seafood like shrimp or scallops so I'd avoid those. Bring the salt block up to temp with the grill/egg. I'll use it occasionally beef or pork. Dry your protein's surface prior to placing on the block. Wet surfaces pick up more salt. Have fun.Sandy Springs & Dawsonville Ga

Thanks.

My wife uses ours for cold apps or snacking. Put veggies, shrimp, meat, and cheese on it cold and as it comes to room temp it pulls the block flavor out and forms a wet place adding tons of flavor. Easy clean up also. Company loves it.
we have never cooked on it -
Sounds good.

This was awesome. Wagyu beef sliced thin - then sear on heated salt block. This was at a restaurant.

My opinion shrimp and scallops are the best.

Imparts too much salt if used for cooking. It's good a cold service piece for delicate seafoods.kcw said:My opinion shrimp and scallops are the best.Sandy Springs & Dawsonville Ga -
I will have to test it out for scallops.
