Thermoworks Smoke - thermo thru dome

Quick question for the Board: I'm doing some turbo baby backs today and want to track with my new Thermoworks Smoke.  I've put the short, straight thermocouple through the hole in the dome for the thermometer.  Any reason this won't work for me to monitor the target temp?

As long as it fit (and apparently it did), shouldn't be a problem.  In fact, I'm stealing the idea!  :triumph:
Were you able to secure it with the spring clip from the OEM thermo?

I have been using a temp probe through the dome for a while and it works fine.

In cooking, often we implement steps for which we have no explanations other than ‘that’s what everybody else does’ or ‘that’s what I have been told.’  Dare to think for yourself.

Seemed to work fine.  I'm going to do this on all my cooks from now on.  The Smoke comes with 2 thermocouples: I used the short one and it stuck into the dome about the same distance as the dial thermometer.  And no, I didn't use the spring clip; I did away with that over a year ago.
