Does anyone know if thermapens ever go on sale? If so, do they have them on sale at certain times of the year?

I believe the waterproof MK4 is worth the extra $20. But that’s coming from someone who has left one in the rain overnight.

Some are faster than others, I can't remember which, hopefully someone can chime in with the color coding.

I saw that sale but $79 to $71 isn't much of a sale. 2 for $ 59 also isn't good when you only need 1.

If they were around several years ago I would have gone with the Thermopop. Not quite as quick but plenty quick enough for me. Javalin also makes some highly-regarded quick read thermos. FWIW-

You can always find a friend who needs one and make it their gift. It would be the largest step forward in cooking results for those who don't have one.

Also, it is scientific fact that Wisconsin Badgers Red is quite a bit faster than the others.

As Lou mentioned, nothing at all wrong with the Pop if the pen doesn’t fit the budget. But over a very hot fire, the faster the better. And @Spaightlabs that’s Dawg red, and yes it’s very fast.

Um, orange and blue are the fastest ones. But only Auburn orange and blue, not those nasty Florida colors.

I went the cheap route with two thermometers, the second being a lower-priced thermoworks product which works just fine, but I wish I had just gotten the thermapen right from the start. Faster is better, and worth it to me.
