Last night, the wife and I...................
decided to make some burgers. Cleaned out the egg and put in a load of fresh lump. Lit it with my weed burner and opened vents wide, no daisy wheel. I went inside to form burgers, came out and had blue and purple flames jetting out the top. Spun the thermo around and was sitting at 300F, I would estimate the dome temp to be somewhere north of 1000F.
We've all done it, how hot have you gotten yours?

Have had my old KJ up over 1000, doing just what you did. Went in the house to put toppings on pizza crust. Came out to see thermometer pegged. Shot it with my Fluke digital thermometer, and it showed 1050!
Have only had my XL up to 850 max.

Not sure

No it doesn’t !

For an excellent view of Emily wearing much less than shown here, google for the "unrated" version of Robin Thicke's Blurred Lines video. You're Welcome.Richmond and Mathews County, VA. Large BGE, Weber gas, little Weber charcoal. Vintage ManGrates. Little reddish portable kamado that shall remain nameless here. Very Extremely Stable Genius.

Never had the afterburner look. Tried a few high temp pizzas back before I learned that an egg is far from a wood fired oven. Highest I recorded (or recall, for that matter)...

I hate it when I go to the kitchen for food and all I find are ingredients!

Once during a clean burn and using my 200 to 1,000 Thermoworks I hit 1100+ and then confirmed that with my IRT and it went on up to 1300 something before I shut it down for the night. Granted I use a high temperature gasket.Re-gasketing the USA one yard at a time
