Little bling for my XL.
New Woo Ring and ash poking/smasher tool.
The photos don't do this justice. Thick grade stainless will outlast me.

Looks like they beefed up the woo from the previous version.

Enjoy it! I use my XL woo all the time. It's almost never out of the grill. I got a pizza stone for indirect cooking and an 18" CI grid for searing burgers, steaks, and lamb chops. when those aren't in use, I'm cooking on the raised grid.Cooking on an XL and Medium in Bethesda, MD.

I bought the XL Woo 6 months ago and love it. I don't think mine has that additional outer ring on it though... is that a new addition @tjv??Milton, GA

It can now be flipped and a 20" cooking grid added to cook raised direct. The same 20" cooking grid that tops the XL Adjustable rig.chuckytheegghead said:Thank you,DarianGalveston Texas -

Nope. Figured I might need to take it apart to move it and it would be cleaner that way. My dad had a great idea to move it, we'll see if it works. Going to try removing all the guts, then using a 2"x10"x5' as a platform to carry it down while in the nest. We'll see...Sea2Ski said:@DMW Did you fire that thing up yet?They/Them

We have a mutual friend who enjoys doing the same thing as Darian. So I made them both an xl woo flip ring that will hold the 20 round grid. I am still playing with the design to see if it's worthwhile or see if these two guys are just nuts on how they cook.......lol.

@tjv What about the mod to the ADJ RIG? You mentioned in a previous post we could upgrade to the version that’s open on the top ring.Tyler, TX XL BGE 2016, KJ Classic 2019, MES, 18.5 WSM, Akorn Jr, 36"&17" Black Stone, Adj Rig, Woo, Grill Grates, SS Smokeware Cap, KAB, FB 300, Thermapen

all you need to do is cut/trim off the front section of the top ring that runs between the front brackets. Cut the ring forward of the welds, near the bracket's front rounded tip. then if you like, add the 20 D grid.SSQUAL612 said:@tjv What about the mod to the ADJ RIG? Just remember, metal cuts better at slow speeds, if using some type of motor device. A little oil (WD40) on the cut will help too. total time, about one beer.

I cut mine off with a hand hack saw. Took about 30 seconds a cut. Smoothed with a metal file.SSQUAL612 said:

@Photo Egg can you post a pic of your modified rig? I assume the structural integrity is still good and there's no regrets?Milton, GA

Curious. Does anyone know whether the XL Woo with 19" stone will fit snuggly in either the 2 rings platform? I love my L Woo, so easy to that that thing out with confidence that the deflector will not fall off. Wonder if I can do the same with new XL Woo and 19" stone?
I do have these items in my cart ready. But wanted to see what others say? Pictures?X-Large & Large

I will measure, but it's hot right now. It does sit, down in the fire ring. So lay your stone on top your lump in the fire ring and see if there is enough space for air flow.Thank you,DarianGalveston Texas -
19", in my opinion, would really be pushing the size as far as air flow. Should be great for low and slow but might be hard to get up to roasting temps. No issues with it fitting into the XL Woo. And you could easily lift out as 1 unit.dfrelich said:Curious. Does anyone know whether the XL Woo with 19" stone will fit snuggly in either the 2 rings platform? The ceramic grill site says to get either 17.5 or 19. Descriptors as read - The lower ring holds our 17.5 or 19" Round Ceramic Stone for low & slow, BBQ cooks.
But I did not realize that larger stone may be too restricting for the other type of cook other than low and slow.
In looking through the pictures carefully off their site. I realize that it's not going to keep either two stones choices snug. For some reason I thought two platforms would be for either stones. But I realize that the first "bend" would be to sit on the fire ring and then the bottom would be for stones of choice.
So originally I thought I'd like to decide which one to get based on "snugness" of the stone. This way I do not need to worry about dropping stone when taking out the woo. Need to rethink what I want. :-)
Nice looking proteins BTW.X-Large & Large

The stones, 17 or 19, will not be held snug. But it is not an issue. They will not slide out. And you can lift the Woo out of the Egg with stone sitting in the Woo.dfrelich said:The ceramic grill site says to get either 17.5 or 19. Cut pretty easy with a hand hack saw. Just start your cut slow and smooth. Let the blade do the work. Smoothed it out with hand file. After a couple cooks no one will know it was cut by me. That top bar really just gets in the way. I will not miss it.Thank you,DarianGalveston Texas -
Awesome. Thanks for the detailed pics. Copying that now!Milton, GA
