how much charcoal

the book that came with the BGE says to put charcoal just below the holes in the fire box will there be a problem putting in more than that? thanks Len

Len,
Nope. Load 'er up. I have never gone much above the top of the fire ring, but you can. If you put in such a small amount of charcoal as suggested by the book, your cook can't be very long. One thing I might suggest is to use the book as your firestarter as long as the pages last. Use this forum and the Naked Whiz, WessB, GFW, etc. sites to learn how to use this great tool.

Len,[p]I agree with uncbbq. Your egg controls cooking temperature by controling the amount of oxygen for the fire. When the egg vents are closed, the fire goes out and the remaining charcoal can be used for the next cook.[p]Spin

got my 1st green egg. Its a medium. Am wondering why the cook grid sit so low inside the egg. Should it be 4 inches below the gasket surface? Is there something that would make turning burgers easier?

not really but if you check out the lawn ranger's site he has a spatula that makes it easier makes EGGCELLENT tools i am sorry i am not able to put the link on here i am a nuubie to computors (till trying to find all the keys:~)[p]
