How Many PBs To Feed 50?

Howdy EGGHeads,
I have the privilege to cook lunch next weekend for our local Police and Fire Department. There will be 50 hungry first responders to feed. My questions is, what would that translate to for your average pork butt (Boston, not picnic). This is my first large cook, and I want to make sure these fine folks get enough to eat.
I was guessing 3 - 4?
Thanks as always!
Cheers,
bE

If it's worth doing, do it low and slow.

Assuming you’ll have sides and such. I’ve always gone for about half a pound uncooked per person I’m cooking for.Large BGE

45 lbs or so for 50ish 1/2lb servings and 60% yield. 4-5 butts most likely, unless you have access to larger ones. Around me are typically 7-11lbs per butt.

Doesn't sound like kids and wives, so plan heavy, you don't want to run out and leftover pulled pork is easy to deal with.THANK YOU FOR YOUR ATTENTION TO THIS MATTER

If you cook them real good, that crowd could eat close to 1 pound per person. General consensus is 1/3 pound per person, but if you nail it these people will eat a pound. Plan on 40+ pounds finished. I would cook at least eight 8-pounders. Good luck and great feeling to cook for the first responders! Cheers

1lb per person precooked
