Beer keg brisket

14 hours on a beer keg grill my brother built. Used 20lb of lump. Nice bark, tasted great. Lasted less than 30 mins with 14 of us last night. Not like cooking on the BGE

Great result, especially the bark.  By chance do you know any details of the rub recipe used?
And you are right about fuel consumption non-BGE.  20 lbs is a healthy amount (any water pan in the keg?)

I used 3 foil trays for water. Rub was salt, pepper and paprika in generous amounts. Used what was on hand for a brisket mop, orange juice and bourbon.

@egger ave thanks for the info.  Must have gone heavy with the pepper, my favorite rub ingredient.
    Edit:  Hopefully cheap bourbon  ;)

Ohhhh, man....  Was anyone else hoping to see pictures of the BEER KEG GRILL?!?!

Sorry it wasn't the same as a BGE cook experience, but still must have been fun to cook on something new and that bark looks nice.

Here you go, 20 years of steaks and burgers, first brisket last Saturday. Note the old tool stand for the base. My dad laid out the grill house and rafters.

@egger ave - the measure is the outcome and you guys nailed it.  Great skill-set right there.  Congrats to your brother.
BTW- must have been a few great parties to kill those kegs in their prior life.

Right?  Just like one of those barrell grills, but you don't have to worry about rust!  Good idea, and it only cost you a $10 deposit per keg!  :)
