  • Mini Egg,[p]What are the things you plan to do with it that you can't with your medium? Can they be done on the large? Can they be done with the combination of a large and your medium? Do they require the extra large?[p]What are you getting?

  • Michael B,Medium is just to small if you only have one. I often cook for 4 to six. This means you really have to planit out, often means you end up crowding the grid. The only thing that scares me is the height of the xl appears to be lower than large. And I wonder how much more lump you would burn in the XL to do the same job.

  • kalyn,[p]I wasn't questioning your decision to get a second Egg. I was posing a few questions for you to ask yourself so that you could determine for yourself whether the large or extra large would better fit your needs.[p]Perhaps a visual aid?
Get some construction paper or poster board.
Consider the biggest cook you expect to actually do.
Make silhouette cutouts of all the items you'll be cooking in the Eggs, or just pull out the appropriate pans.
Cut one 18-inch diameter circle and one 24-inch circle.
Set a small table next to your medium Egg.
Put the 18-inch circle on the table and use it to see if all your food will fit on your medium and a large.
Put the 24-inch circle on the table and use it to see if all your food will fit on your medium and an extra large.
Which one fits your needs better?[p]I've heard it takes about 10 pounds of lump to set a bed in an XL. Doesn't mean you have to burn it all up with each cook. [p]Mike

  • Michael B,You have got to be kidding. Anyone out there have both.[p]What is the difference in time to heat to same Temp and fuel used to do some job. is the dome on extra large at least as high as large.
