Wife is out of town and I was feeling a bit bored, but not terribly ambitious as to what to have for lunch. Opened up the fridge and spotted some crescent rolls and a pack of Nathan's dogs. Wrapped the dogs and put them on indirect at 375 for about 15 minutes. These reminded me of when I was a kid and my Grannie used to make these as a treat, except she would wrap the dogs in flattened canned biscuits, or what she called whomp biscuits. The only time I ever remember her using whomp biscuits was wrapping hotdogs and when rolling them out thin and filling with apples, cinnamon and butter for quick and easy fried apple pies.
Anyway, like I said, I was not feeling terribly ambitious, so just had these with some plain yellow mustard and a side of potato chips. Not healthy, not nutritious but was fun and simple.
Waiting for the Dawgs game today. GA has a history of stumbling in Jacksonville. Is this our season?

Those are good! Way superior to the regular bun“There are three rules that I live by: never get less than twelve hours sleep; never play cards with a guy who has the same first name as a city; and never get involved with a woman with a tattoo of a dagger on her body.”

Looks great, I used to do that for the boys when they were young. I would put shredded cheese on the dough , then roll the dogs up.

I remember eating a lot of something similar at the open air markets in the Netherlands. Sausages wrapped in a pastry crust or sweet dough. Kind of like a kolache.
In STL, right across I-55 from the AB Brewery, there's a place called Gus's Pretzels that puts a big hot dog like that inside of a pretzel. You can also get a brat or salsiccia (Italian sausage). On Wednesdays they rotate a jalapeno cheddar brat and smoked cheddar beer brat. The plain pretzels are great by themselves (lived on them in college), but adding the sausage or hot dog takes them to a whole 'nother level.
