CHIMINEA quest is complete
Jeremiah
Posts: 6,412
So my quest is complete thanks to @Wardster. He messaged me this past spring regarding a trade. My minimax for his small and CHIMINEA! He wanted something more portable, and didn't use the chiminea anymore. I jumped at the proposal and we finally made the trade off today at our campsite. He even brought some stuffed jalapeño poppers his butcher makes. As is the case with all eggers I've met, he couldn't be a nicer guy. Thanks again @Wardster hope you enjoy the minimax!!!

Congratulations, it's been a long hunt.
Please let everyone know what you think about it after you have used it for a while.
I have an old cast iron chiminea I bought at Sams 25 yrs ago. It's rusty, but still burns well. -

Talk about staying the course, congratulations on closing the deal. I'm sure you will get a whole lot of enjoyment especially given the protracted pursuit.
I know you spend time in the outdoors but it looks like humping a BGE into the wilderness is not something high on your list. Given that, I think you will quite pleased with the SBGE. There are couple of mods that greatly improve its performance (or so I was told) as I installed the after-market enhancements before the first fire. Given the forum a search or shoot me a note if you want more details.

@Fred19Flintstone while I can agree to the philosophy, this case might prove otherwise.Slumming it in Aiken, SC.

Congratulations on success after a long quest. I'm interested to hear your opinion of the small vs MM after you have some time cooking on the small.Coleman, Texas
Large BGE & Mini Max for the wok. A few old camp Dutch ovens and a wood fired oven. LSG 24” cabinet offset smoker. There are a few paella pans and a Patagonia cross in the barn. A curing chamber for bacterial transformation of meats...
"Bourbon slushies. Sure you can cook on the BGE without them, but why would you?"

@SciAggie I certainly will update my findings. My biggest knock on the minimax is the lack of grid height in relation to the platesetter. This is why the woo/ stone combo is key. We'll see how the small compares very soon....we're gonna be cooking on it all week here at the campground.Slumming it in Aiken, SC.

@jeremiah it was my pleasure and thanks for the hospitality. Having been an observer to your quest, and getting a couple chuckles out of your near misses, I had this on the radar for a while. Just so happened our needs/wants crossed each other and we knocked them out. I hope you enjoy them both. I'm sure the small can handle anything and more than the MM could. Just trickier to get it to it's destination!
Let me know if/when you book in N GA. I'll be sure to do the same and may be we can all get a site close to each other.
Enjoy and get that little one to the pool!!!!

Congratulations @Jeremiah Glad you finally got one of the elusive chimineas. Persistence pays off.
What kind of camper is that? We have been looking at a Jayco Hummingbird or Winnie Drop, maybe a Starcraft Satellite or something along those lines, but will probably wait until next year.
Pull that thing over to Tallulah Gorge or Moccasin Creek State Parks sometime if you get a chance. Can't go wrong in North Georgia Mountains, despite what some movies might suggest. -
@Wardster thanks again, and I will definetly let you know about the nga fest. (I'm sure plans will being soon) lol.Slumming it in Aiken, SC.

@epcotisbest it's a 27' keystone bullet. I wouldn't recommend it. Jayco and Winnebago both make similar but better models. Grand Design makes an even better one than those. (And will probably be our next one). Then there's the Airstreams...Slumming it in Aiken, SC.
