Or in the egg works as well. I've been restoring all my CI in the egg. No caustic fumes in the house is my reasoning. Our hood is ductless. AKA worthless unless you consider that bs mesh filter and a light a hood.nolaegghead said:@mEGG_My_Day
Strip it off. You can put it in the oven with some oven cleaner, or in the oven on the clean cycle.

Good point - our hood is downdraft - also worthless. How long and at what temp do you think it'll take on the egg??NPHuskerFL said:Or in the egg works as well. Go nuclear, toss it on the grid, standard direct setup.mEGG_My_Day said:

Below is my set up. I've re-done it, after using a few times. I have a 55 gallon barrel cut down to about 25-30 gallons for the big stuff. Since I went larger with the blue tank, I installed a bulkhead fitting so it can be drained easily. The next pic is a simple 5 gallon bucket for the smaller items.
Simply hook up the red cable from the charger to any of the pieces of metal around the side. Hook the black to the copper bar across the top. Then hang your piece from the copper bar (use wire).
I have found that it's good to have sacrificial metal around the tank, as opposed to just a couple. If it's only on one side, it won't clean. I realize line of site is the wrong term, but it's a fairly accurate description of how it works. The metal gets corroded - that's what it's there for. Touch it with a wire brush on an angle grinder and it cleans up easily. The sacrificial metal can be reused - a lot.
I've also attached a pic of the washing soda - it's available at walmart.

For those that have a Smokeware cap, electrolysis makes it look like new.

It's hopeless - get a new egg.

@blasting - Thanks for posting. I'll try the copper bar and wire. I had to connect the cathode clamp directly to the pan and submerge it in order to work even though my original setup used a bare copper wire for the connection.Large Egg, PGS A40 gasser.

You could just cut off the clamps and crimp on ring terminals that can be bolted to the plates. A bit more permanent if you're planning repeat performances.1voyager said:@blasting - Cut your grass? I don't get it but I'm slow today.
Thank-you for your compliment. The excess jumper cables look goofy. I planned to cut them down to six inches but was unable to open the connection between the clamp and the wire. Tried to pry one open with a screwdriver and of course it slipped and left a monster gash on the palm of my hand. NBD.
I look forward to seeing your setup. -
