Eggccessory Storage

I've barely had my Egg for three months and, as several of you hinted, there's been an explosion of accessory purchases - and I have my eye on a few more "essential" pieces!  I'm thinking that before the dear wife explodes and calls in an organization expert (who specializes in throwing away my treasures... "I might need that someday!"), I had better get things under control.  The egg is on a section of deck designated as my grilling area - I also have Weber gasser and kettle out there (both provide good surfaces for juggling Egg stuff during a cook), but most of my Egg gear is haphazardly strewn across some shelves just inside the garage (access door from deck).

So, if you don't mind, if you feel your Eggccessories are pretty well organized, please share a photo or two to give me some ideas.  If you saw my desk in my office, you'd know organization is not my thing (though my computer and brain are highly well organized).

Thanks in advance!

I use a Rubbermaid storage container that sits on the side of my house

  • I have a shelf in my garage dedicated to Egging gadgets and accessories. The bottom shelf has different types of wood. A one shelf close to arms reach is dedicated to lighting methods (propane tanks, lighters, newspapers, etc.). And because our riding mower also lives in the garage everything else has been put in storage containers with lids. One has all of our pans and baskets. Another has meal specific accessories (skewers, a rib rack, etc.). There is a third container but I can't remember what it has off the top of my head.

  • It doesn't store everything but I'm using a toolbox like this one:

I've got a plastic cutting board on top and my Mini sits on top of that.  Large grids don't fit inside but plate setters, pizza stone & whatnot else do.

If it were me, I would clean up the area by getting the grills off of the deck! I'm guessing the deck is flammable and is probably attached to your house.

Many of us know @Little Steven. He says this was caused by a gasser on a wooden deck. I know the LAST grill I would ever put on a deck is a kettle. But the others aren't far behind.

This is where he has them now...

I hate it when I go to the kitchen for food and all I find are ingredients!

  • I use my other grills to store my egg-cessories. And the egg as well for that matter. I also built a table with a lower shelf that houses a rubbermaid container with more accessories. But my pellet grill holds the bulk of the stuff. If I use the pellet grill I move the accessories and then move them back.

I use the Suncast Storage Cube (Amazon link).  It’s 24” by 24” by 24” inside, which means it holds all my XL grades, AR, Woo ring, either stacked or on their sides. Fairly waterproof. With some cork trivets, it serves as a nice landing area for AR when hot.

Since I never use it any more, my Weber gasser has become my outdoor storage.  Plate setter, pizza stone, firebricks - the stuff that gets hot - inside the cooking part and everything else in the cabinet underneath (extra space since there's no longer a need for a propane tank.  It sits nicely tucked in a corner of the patio and covered and SWMBO doesn't seem to notice how much egg related stuff is stored there...

I only have a Woo 2 ring and a plate setter.

My Weber kettle makes a perfect landing zone for the plate setter.

Thanks for the ideas.  Here's my current setup
There's ample space, and I could make a little more effort, but something with a work-surface top and either doors (like a cabinet) or drawers would be better.

Of course, I'm utilizing the kettle and the gasser...
I appreciate the caution @Carolina Q but the grills won't be leaving the deck.  That said, I'm going to order a fire extinguisher right now!

I use a knockoff Rubbermaid storage chest I bought for 20 bucks.  It's flimsy as all get out but surprisingly has held up to all Indiana weather.  I'm going to make dividers eventually to keeps things more organized.

@JohnEggGio - I noticed you store your Smokeware cap in the kettle. How do you smother the fire without using the cap?

I replace the original ceramic cap after each cook.  The snug fit works better.

I finally got around to buying something to store my gear.  Got it on Amazon, only paid $128.  It’s not an heirloom piece, but it’ll do the job for a few years.  Assembly was pretty easy.  That table top is covered with a thin sheet of steel.  The wife will be pleased.
