I got in on the Thermoworks new Wi-Fi unit. Looks very well built.

A K type probe in and of itself doesn't mean that it is suitable for high temps. You need to get one specifically for the range you want to expose it too. The advantage of K type probes is that they are available in a very wide range of types for all sorts of uses and a wide range of environments unlike "headphone jack" type probes which are much more limited in comparison.Toxarch said:

Yes, I know what K-type probes are and yes, I know there are different ratings for probes and wires and wire coatings. Clearly a tongue-in-cheek comment goes over a few people's heads. No harm, no foul. Carry on.
