Got a self-cleaning oven?  I put my SW in for a cleaning cycle and the gunk is gone.  Gotta admit it did discolor the cap a bit to a brown tone, but it's clean, and it works clean.

All I will say is that it keeps the rain out and it works good . Also good combo with the Tiptop controller .

Never cleaned mine. 1st gen cap. Works fine. It's discolored and the silicone tab on the adjustment tab got burned off. I like that I can run the egg in a downpour and not get water in the egg.

If its raining cats and dogs, I'm not cooking outside; I'll wait it out. Not because a few drops will get into the egg via the factory setup. I just don't want to get soak and wet. The Smokeware cap does absolutely nothing keeping me dry.

If I get a butt or something out of the freezer and the weather changes to rain, I'll just put on a raincoat and throw it on. Hell, I snowblow the egg out in winter just to cook.
