Firebox just broke

I was getting ready to grill some chicken. Cleaning up the ashes and there was a loud crack and it is now in 3 pcs. At least I live close to the mother ship,

So if you show up at the Mothership  and stand in the parking lot holding the pieces crying do they come out with new parts?

Mine's been broken for at least 3+ years now. It only stays together if I lean it against the base of the egg. I really should get a new one.

I hate it when I go to the kitchen for food and all I find are ingredients!

Pretty much. Except an emailed pic is good enough.

Ive never had an egg without a broken firebox.  Except for my mini max, but i just assembled it last night and haven't cooked on it.  We will see how long it goes ..  although my XL warranty replacement also has the new firebox with the slit cut in it.  I am anxious to see if it stands the test of time with that new(er) configuration.

    Looking for help...

Someone here coined a saying that I love. It goes something like this:

There are only two types of BGE fireboxes - ones which have not yet cracked and those which have!

Can/Will someone tell us who coined that? TIA

Mine just broke on my small. It wouldn't bother me except I cant get it positioned so it sits level and my wieners were rolling off the grid.

Which came first the chicken or the egg?  I egged the chicken and then I ate his leg.

I hear you. I have a different problem with the angle of my deck where my table  sits. The degree of run off is - I guess 4" in 8 feet. While that doesn't sound like much at all I too noticed a problem. My solution is now at least 14 years old. I tried a few metal nuts between the top of the fire ring and the bottom of my grill, but I was always losing them. I never wanted to separate my fire ring and fire box so I never put them in between. Then I tried some flattened pieces of copper tubing and then short pieces of that same tubing - but still lost those too. Eventually I found a semi-flat rock and took a chisel to one side. That rock now sits and STAYS on my fire ring and that makes my grill level as Norm Abrahams's floors!

I only lost one fire ring on any of my eggs.   I guess that means more are coming.  Warranties are great.  Just ask Tommy Boy!

The point is, how do you know the fairy isn't a crazy glue sniffer? "Buildin' model airplanes!" says the little fairy, well, we're not buying it. He sneaks into your house once, that's all it takes. The next thing you know, there's money missing off your dresser and your daughter's knocked up, I've seen it a hundred times.

And by the way - thanks to Congo Fireplace and Patio for getting in a warranty replacement of firebox and fire ring in less than two weeks.
