Alan,[p]Action Guru photos...here ya go. Sounds like you have the meat probe figgured out. Just keep the pit probe a couple of inches away from any meat to avoid false readings. The top pic shows the Guru pit probe next to some trotters. [p]This picture shows the pit probe in between two pastrami.[p]4908f4b9.jpg[p]In this picture there was not enough room on the grate (remember, you don't want to crowd the pit probe), so the pit probe is elevated above these ribs.[p]8cd110c9.jpg[p]~thirdeye~

So I can either place it next to the meat. Or place it on the thermometer around the dome area?[p]would that work?
  • Alan, Here are couple pics. Guru also makes a handy vertical holder. [p]

Alan,[p]You bet. You can place the pit probe anywhere you want to control the temp. If you put it up in the dome, pick up a $3 oven thermometer so you know what your grate temp is. That way you will know what the "true temperature" of your cooker is.[p]~thirdeye~

BBQ Bob Trudnak,[p]Hey Bob, that is some good information on probe placement and air adjustment. I guess I need to visit your site more often. I had not seen that page or the Jerky Tips page, which has a lot of good information too.[p]~thirdeye~

  • BBQ Bob Trudnak, the extension rod with silicone sleeve is one handy gadget. It's a great way to elevate the probe above the grid or meat: your're idea or Fred's? [p]I need to talk to you about a gasket for my rotisserie, mabye a convection fan port too. You going to Eggtoberfest? [p]Tom[p]

  • Alan,
The GURU is primarily for low temp, slow cooking...don't forget the temp limits on the leads = 400 deg F. You can use to GURU to rapidly start your fire, and/or get it up to T-Rex temps...just leave the leads outside the Egg & let the fan stoke that fire, which it will do better than anything. Oh Yeah...make sure that you have the damper OPEN, or at least where you want it...sometimes when I stop my cook, I close the damper on fan (which is good) & forget to open it on my next cook....good luck & post some pics..........
