Do ya like it ? Use it?Legume said:I've got one.Huntsville, Al LBGE -
I do like it, and yes, I use it. They've been out of the deflectors forever and are suppose to get them in this week, so I haven't tried to smoke anything yet. The ci grid is nice, but rusts like an MFer, so you have to stay on it. It gets hot, sears, grills well, but you're close to the coals (compared to my XL), so it was an adjustment for me.THANK YOU FOR YOUR ATTENTION TO THIS MATTER

I bought an acorn , not the jr, to take camping. Haven't used it yet. Just got the deflector monday. Gonna try a pork butt this sunday.

@GlennM has one and seemed to like it:

He mentions using a canning rack and a metal plate as a diffuser. Found some info here:

Although I would consider using a terra-cotta plant saucer instead of a metal plate to distribute the heat more evenly.Which came first the chicken or the egg? I egged the chicken and then I ate his leg. -
Saw one at Wally World a few days back. Was thinking of getting it for a trip in 2 weeks.

The ash catcher on the bottom of the jr is secured by a couple of latches. If you don't latch it, you'll get runaway temps. On the bright side, flames shooting out of the bottom and up the outside didn't damage anything, gasket is still welll intact and just some discoloration that makes it look like it's a veteran cooker.THANK YOU FOR YOUR ATTENTION TO THIS MATTER

Ok put the butts on at 12:10 am
Lit the akorn at 10:45, got it stabilized 225 ish dome. Put a mix of hickory, pecan and apple.

Will see what they're like when I wake up. -
Just took the small one off at 7:05 IT - 205
The large one IT - 193 still not probing easy, bone not ready to pull out yet. -
I have had one at our place in Fl for a couple of years now. It is working fine, not as easy to keep the temps real low but works well. I have a joe jr at home and it is a superior BBQ but much more expensive. I still use the canning rack for a diffuser and raised cookingIn the bush just East of Cambridge,Ontario

Large is off IT 205 also.
Didn't use a lot of lump. Had it filled to right below the diffuser, this is all it burned.
Bringing up to 600 degs to clean the grate. Will see how well it hold the heat once I shut it down.

Wow. Very nice. I believe for the money, I'll rush runwaway temps, etc. I'm hoping Father's Day will bring this and a blackstone. Vs just a MM or Joe Jr.Eggscuses said:Large is off IT 205 also.
