New bands..

Got my new spring assisted band assembly for the Large today.
This is the warranty replacement for the warranty replacement. Last set was the old style. Going to make pizzas over the weekend, maybe. Hope this puts an end to the high heat cook tweaking the bands...

Do you, by chance have 'The Handler' on your egg?

If buying a new egg at a dealer, are these new bands something I should look for before purchasing? I assume the new band style is now shipping with new eggs, yes?

It depends on how long your dealer has been sitting on his/her current stock. More than likely it won't be the new band. It's definitely worth looking into with the dealer. My dealer ordered 30+ large eggs a month ago and zero came the new band. I'd say 75% of them came with a 3" thermometer dial and the rest were standard sized.

@JWBurns...may also depend on what the distributor has in their warehouse. When I bought the Medium for my wife it had been sitting, between the distributor/dealer for 5 years or so.
If your not going to do a lot of nuclear level pizza cooks I don't know if the spring assisted bands are a necessity. I didn't have a problem until I started pushing the temp into the 750*+ area...

$125 at my dealer in Roswell, GA.  I just don't like hot the dome does not open as much as the old band assembly.

Seems like the "Tabs" to keep the dome from falling out could be a simple bolt-on accessory.

Disappointed in the reduced opening as well. Asked if the spring assist band's were available for Ernestinas Medium...Heather, my "connection" (lol) at the distributor called headquarters today...not yet..
