Flyer in today's fish wrapper has a teaser which you supposedly can take a peek at homedepot.com to see the price. Says it is scheduled for Sat, May 20. So far I haven't been able to peek so it appears you can't check what the price will be until then.

I saw that too, but haven't been able to check out the price.
Last year it looks like it was $7.88.
    Thanks

When Walmart quit carrying it I had to go with something else. Good bulk, but lots of rocks. I will look for this at my local Home Depot and stock up.

Last time they had a sale, it seems like it was a great price.  I did not see it mentioned until like 9 pm that night, but learned you can order online for your local store, pay for it at sale price, and then pick up within a week or 10 days when it is convenient for you to pick up--they have it up front for you
  • Looking at it now and this time the ad says "store only" so not sure if the online way will work.

Home Depot has been selling RO for only $9.97 a bag all year instead of $13 last year.

I don't really need any more at the moment and if the price only drops down to last years Memorial Day price of $7.88 I won't be fighting the normal Saturday crowd but if they were to drop it to $5 or $6 a bag I might head out and pick up a few.

Last time it was "online" but it was pick up in store from in stock merchandise, so it was not a typical online order.  A lot of the brick and mortar are doing this--they have locked cages up front where they keep everything that is prepaid like this.  Last time it was all loaded and in the buggy in the cage when I went to pick it up.

My HD had 'em piled HIGH this last weekend on like 3 pallets!  I bet they're expecting a rush - made a calendar date to go early on Saturday and check it out!

Lowes has 15.4 lb bag of Royal Oak for $4.00 a bag, 6 per customer. Just got done putting it in the shed.

That's a great deal...but are you sure you got lump and not briquettes?

When I search their site for Royal Oak this is all I find:

    Royal Oak 154-lb Charcoal Briquettes

Which came first the chicken or the egg?  I egged the chicken and then I ate his leg.

It's a lengthy drive to Homely Despot for me. It would have to be an excellent price for me to drive past the Rockwood 1/4 mile down from my house and then drive through 20 red lights each way and an 8 mile interstate leg to boot.

I'll have to check Saturday too.  I just picked up 8 bags last night (in addition to the diablo I got from Costco).  I wouldn't mind stocking up.

I may be a bad person for mentioning this but I have to imagine someone might be able to pull a price match @ Home Depot for some lump.

Last year at this time I stocked up - as I recall I bought 19 bags.  The only downside was that I then had to burn 19 bags of royal oak.

At some point I realized the difference per cook is almost zero, when the efficiency of our eggs is factored in.  I've since returned all the royal oak, and happily burn only Rockwood.
