Raised Grid on Mini Max?

Hi all!
Just curious if anyone uses a raised grid on mini max--if so, what size grid do you recommend?
I just picked up the BGE extender for my XL-- I am a convert for roasting on raised grid. Big difference roasting vegetables on the extender vs underneath (450 temp at the main grate). Want to try on mini max next (I did see somewhere along the line that MM users will need to use a wine cork to keep dome probe from stabbing in to food w raised grate)

I do this:

The grid is from the mini, its 26cm across. However, if I had easy access to CGS products I'd probably go for that option.

used on 90% of my cooks. Have one on all 4 Eggs and they are all from Tom (see Photo Eggs post above).

I purchased a SS grate for a BGE Mini and SS hardware from Home Depot. I also have a Woo and CI grate from the CGS, which I use when I do not need the extra space.

thanks for all the replies! @SBGonzo do you use the woo for 'normal' indirect cooking (vs just the grate on the plate setter) as well as direct? The mini grid w long screws--is that JUST for extra space, or to really go 'high in the dome'?
I am debating on the DIY method now or the CGS Woo
-
@Mickey, do you use plate setter or the small stone CGS has for the Woo?
-
I do not have a plate setter for either eggs (Large and MM) I use a Woo and ceramic stone for all my indirect cooks. For direct cooking I still use the Woo but with no stone. The Woo helps get the grate higher in the dome etc.Sirk98 said:thanks for all the replies! @SBGonzo do you use the woo for 'normal' indirect cooking (vs just the grate on the plate setter) as well as direct? The extended grid on top is for extra real estate if needed. If I am doing a cook where I do not need the extra space, I will just use the Woo and 13inch CI grate, which works remarkably well.

And this is why they don't let you host Eggfests anymore...Mickey said:They/Them

I like the plate setter on the XL but not on the MMX.Mickey said: -
CGS stone here 100% and never looking back.Mickey said: -
@Mickey I respect you Sir. But, I respectfully disagree. I have both and use both. They each have positives. However, I'll say this, I rarely go w/out using my WOO in the MM. Baking is where I use the PS in the MM.Mickey said:
Edit: to be fair I bought one of the first MM & bought the PS because the WOO had not been released yet and was still in beta. In fact I believe you were the test subject. Within the day of the WOO being released I ordered it and no regrets.LBGE 2013 & MM 2014Die Hard HUSKER & BRONCO FANFlying Low & Slow in "Da Burg" FL -

Curious about the hate for the plate setter. My minimax came with... thats why I am debating buying the stone when I buy the woo...

In my XL, I have the KJ Divide N Conquer setup. I use that for everything except when doing longer smokes (Pork Butt / Brisket)... I find the plate setter in the XL allows me to load more lump than the half moon setup in the Divide N Conquer

(IMO) the stones are so much more easy to use and multi use for different things Egg to oven.
Gsve away my platesetters.Salado TX & 30A FL: Egg Family: 3 Large and a very well used Mini, added a Mini Max when they came out (I'm good for now). Just given a Mini to add to the herd.
