I got my MiniMax today

My wife and I went to the Sunshine State Eggfest today and I got my MiniMax that I've been wanting so badly. Six months after getting my LBGE I got my second egg. Got a pretty good deal: $379 for the MM. I added a Woo and a 10" stone as that seemed like a better way to go than the plate setter route. I'll have to wait until at least tomorrow to put it together.

I scratched  my cornea so I can't wear my contacts. Had to drive down and back using a pair of 9 year old glasses. My eye is sensitive to bright light and I had no sunglasses that fit over the old eye glasses. It gave me a colossal headache and wore me out. But I wasn't letting anything stand in the way of me getting that great MM deal. I didn't know the price as all Jan would tell me is that it was less than last year's price. I am happy and excited like a kid at Christmas. myp thanks to Wassi's Meat Market.

Glad you finally got your MiniMax and hope you enjoy it. My suggestion is you get a cast iron grate for it and enjoy steaks you cook. Did you at least get to try any of the food or were you just so happy you couldn't eat?

Thanks guys. I've been wanting this for months now. My new hobby is going to be learning how to cook on the MM and doing weeknight meals on it.

I have a Lodge CI griddle for my Large but it may be a while before I send the money for a CI grate. Need to curtail spending for a while.

@SamIAm2 I did get a chance to taste the food and sit through a demo in the south tent. Spent about 3 hours there before heading for home..I'm never so happy that I can't eat BBQ.

  • I looked for you Steven but never did see you. My wife gets tired of these things after a while and my eye was bothering me ( sun was so bright) that I figured that it was time to turn towards home. Did you purchase anything?

What CI grate do I recommend? That subject that has been discussed for years here. I use the BGE cast iron grate for both of my eggs but that's just laziness, buying what is readily available here.

Congrats!! You will love it, I first got mine because of the deal I got on it and thought I wouldn't use it very often but thought I would try it out and sell it if I didn't like it, but I use mine at least 4 nights a week very quick to light
and get to temp as compared to my large.

If I remember correctly it took some coaxing to get your wife on board for the large egg. Six months later your wife is buying your second egg. You're doing something right!

  • I think she thought it was going to happen eventually anyway so might as well jump on a great deal.

Im semi-retired and when I work its from a home office so I am almost always around the house. My goal is to take over the cooking and this is just one of the tools I needed to reach that goal. Now I can smoke something on the large and prepare the rest of the meal on the MM. She won't have to cook after she gets home from work so that's a good thing for her.

  • Got a Woo and a stone instead of the plate setter. Learned that lesson when I bought the large.
