MiniMax question

I'm aware of all the warnings and issues surround putting an Egg on to wood and the need for pavers or a nest and pavers etc.
But does that also apply to the MIniMax? Is the metal stand on the MInMax sufficient? I know it was designed to be portable and to be used on tailgates and at campsites etc. So can it be set on a wood table as is or is there still a need for pavers etc.?

Mine lives on a wood table. Please don't jinx it.Slumming it in Aiken, SC.

I'd say you're fine. Mine stays on my stainless table by itself. Plus you'll probably mod the feet to one of the many examples shared here on the site once the factory rubber pads wear out. That will provide more of an air gap as well.

Mine is in a large egg nest on plywood with no problem.

Mods:
1. Make sure you have the new nest handles.
2. Bend the corners of the bottom vent door.
3. New feet pads will happen eventually.
4. Hold off on platesetter and order woo/stone.
5. I added a KAB to increase airflow.
There are several threads detailing all of the above in great detail.
Cheers!

I built a DIY second level for cooking. Few nuts, bolts and washers, plus a SS grid for a mini BGE. This pic has the top level firmly attached with bolts and washers both sides, but you can just rest it on the top grid.SaintJohnsEgger said:Thanks. That is what I needed to know.

Thanks @Stormbringer
I'm definitely going to have to go the DYI route once I get this Egg. I'm also going to have to start cooking most of the evening meals as part of my deal.
But I enjoy smoking on my LBGE and I'm sure will love grilling/cooking on the MM.Marshall in Beautiful Fruit Cove, FL.

I like my small egg a lot better than my mini max! have both in a nest easy to move around, small holds a lot more lump. Max is very heavy for one person to carry very far, small rolls in nest from place to place. I ratchet strap the egg to nest when rolling over rough terrain. Just my 2 cents.

#4. Thats my plan. Big fan of the Woo on my LBGE and use it more that I do the AR. I like that it gives me raised direct cooking too. Can't do that with the PS.YEMTrey said:Mods:

My Ace wants $69 for the PS but CGS wants $71 for the Woo and pizza stone plus shipping. Well worth it in my book.Marshall in Beautiful Fruit Cove, FL.

My MM, which sits in its nest upon a newly-finished cedar table, left a trace on the finish of the wood after only a few months of use. The table is not singed; the finish is just blemished. I now employ a ceramic tile under the nest.
