If all the BGE did was cook chicken, It would still be worth it.

I've only had my second (possibly third) hand egg for about a month now, but I fall more and more in love with it every day.
I cannot believe how easily it pumps out chicken. I giggle every time I fire it up and throw on chicken quarters. It is damn near foolproof and yields the best chicken I have ever cooked on any other grill.
I have also done ribs and steaks which turned out great. But it is hard for me to walk by chicken quarters at the store knowing how good they will taste coming off the egg.

Given the amount of value and second hand egg holds and how long they last they are essentially free to own outside of lump cost and the occasional gasket, so I would say yes.

Spatchcock chicken is another good cook. Last night at the coastal cooking center it was Cornish hens. Don't forget turkey breast while at it.

I agree with Bob. And roast some garlic while you're at it.BikerBob said:Spatchcock chicken is another good cook. Last night at the coastal cooking center it was Cornish hens. Don't forget turkey breast while at it.

So true! And lately chicken prices have occasionally dipped lower than I have seen in many years here in Connecticut. As low as .39 per pound for quarters!LBGE/Weber Kettle/Blackstone 36" Griddle/Turkey Fryer/Induction Burner/Royal Gourmet 24" Griddle/Cuisinart Twin Oaks/Pit Boss Tabletop pellet smoker/Instant Pot

I never buy quarters. What is your go-to method for cooking them?tenpenny_05 said:I've only had my second (possibly third) hand egg for about a month now, but I fall more and more in love with it every day.

It's always nice to have a tried and true method that doesn't have you staring at temp probes and such.
Quarters would be good for me. I'll have to try them. They'd let me easily season spicy pieces (mine) from mild pieces (everyone else).

They are for real bullet proof on the egg. I usually season under the skin and heavily on the back side. Grind some salt over the skin and let it sit uncovered in the fridge for an hour or so.
Get the egg going anywhere between 300 and 400. Raise the grate to the felt line and cook skin side down for about 30 minutes, then flip every 15/20 after that til the meat starts pulling away from the bottom of the drum stick.Kansas City, KansasSecond hand Medium BGE, Second hand Black Kamado Joe Classic, Second hand Weber Kettle, Second hand Weber Smokey Mountain -

I cook chicken on the egg at least once per week. It is all my kids will eat for lunch so I fire it up on Sundays and put on two packs of boneless/skinless thighs (Costco). Kids love it. Vary the seasonings from week to week. Son eats them as is, daughter puts them into a 'wrap'. I was gone one weekend and the wife made them in the indoor griddle...heard about it from the kids all week!EggMcMcc

I'm glad you're enjoying your egg. I cook chicken more than anything else, the family enjoys chicken thighs. Definitely try a spatchcock chicken, you won't regret it! Also try some Alabama White Sauce, it it outstanding on chicken (let me know if you need a recipe).
Have fun with your eggLititz, PA – XL BGE

I love my spatchcocked chicken. I left one on a little too long a couple weeks ago and it was falling apart done. You could have spread it on toast. Yum!Michiana, South of the border.

Teriyaki chicken today. Marinade was pretty sugary. Had to keep turning it to keep it from burning. Came out pretty good!
