Pricing advice for a used BGE, Large

Hello everyone, I am in the market for a large BGE. A coworker has one for sale and we are trying to figure out a fair price. It was given to her 4 years ago, and she does not know how old it is. There are no cracks or damage other than the chip shown on the lid. There is a heat deflector, rib rack, umbrella, table, and table cover included. She claims the table was hand made by the original owner. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I think it is relatively new. I can see notches in the fire ring where the best deflector sits. This change was made around 2012.
The issue with user eggs is there is no warranty. Parts can crack and they are expensive to replace. So, generally 1/2 of retail price is the consensus on a fair user price. I would say about $600.Which came first the chicken or the egg? I egged the chicken and then I ate his leg. -
Yes, 1/2 of retail is where I start and I don't give any credit for accessories either....then I would still spend the little extra at and Eggfeast if you can swing it and get a 1 weekend old Egg at a discount with a warranty.Joe - I'm a reformed gasser-holic aka 4Runner Columbia, SC Wonderful BGE Resource Site: http://www.nakedwhiz.com/ceramicfaq.htm and http://www.nibblemethis.com/ and http://playingwithfireandsmoke.blogspot.com/2006/02/recipes.html
What am I drinking now? Woodford....neat -
I'm with @4Runner regarding the starting point and accessories. That said, since you work with the person obviously you can adjust based on the relationship.
BTW- welcome to the forum. Enjoy the journey.
An observation, if you end up with the BGE make sure you air-gap it off the paver. I suspect the wood below the paver is scorched and fatigued due to heat loading over time. Have you priced out a new one in your area? Do that first.

I paid 375 for a used large in great shape. No table or nest. Fwiw

Personally, I wouldnt pay more than $400 but thats me. I can buy a new egg around here for $800 and build a table pretty cheap.

$500 seems fair. However, once your base cracks you will have paid as much as brand new.

Thanks for the replies everyone. Is it basically a guarantee that the base is going to crack at some point?
-
@singhcn - short answer is "Yes it will eventually crack." Longer answer, depends on the severity of the crack whether it renders the BGE OOC or it can continue to be used.Louisville; Rolling smoke in the neighbourhood. # 38 for the win.
