Dual Probe Thermometer

any suggestions on what dual probe thermometer is the most bang for the buck? Looking for one that has a remote that I can read temps from inside the house.
is the BGE branded one worth the $88 or is there another one that is good?

Don't know anything about that BGE one, but like most of those type products they are merely rebranded good ones with the BGE logo.
Question...do you really need a 2 probe unit? As for the wireless ones I wish I had back all the money I have spent buying those radio transmitter models. At least for me they worked for a while and then puked. The only one that has severed me well was a NuTemp brand. When the probe puked I could never find a cable replacement that read accurately. To this day though the little NuTemp sender sits on my porch and sends the outside temperature to the receiver in our kitchen and is extremely accurate! BTW that NuTemp is now 17 years old!

Love my maverick. No problems as of yet. Dual probe wireless monitor you can tote around with you or keep inside.

Both of the above function well. Probes wear out. I have the Maverick. Next time I'll get the smoke.Sandy Springs & Dawsonville Ga

I have BGE one. Also use a smoke at the shop. I have had the BGE one (maverick) for years but the smoke is in another league. Slightly higher cost but will be able to expand to wifi in the near future if desired. I use them mostly in the winter months around here.

I have one branded by Weber. About 55$ at my local ace. Dual probe seems to be working good for the 6 months or so I have had it. My only complaint is the read out is only on the remote. Not on the sending unit also.

I recently got the Thermopro TP20 and love it, $59. Got another a bit cheaper don't recall make but did not like and returned it.MMx, my not so large BGE

I can only speak on the Maverick ET-832, which I just noticed is only $40 on amazon right now (I paid $60 a few years ago), and it has worked flawlessly for me.Stillwater, MN

Someone posted about this the other day:

I mentioned in the thread my concern would be bluetooth and the range. I would probably get the smoke if I buy again, but for $41 the Lavatools is tempting.Which came first the chicken or the egg? I egged the chicken and then I ate his leg. -
I've really enjoyed my fireboard. up to 6 probe inputs and possibly a blower for pit control in the works. I have a smoke that's still in the box because the fireboard does everything I need it to do.

Probes will go bad. Whatever brand you are thinking of getting, check to see if replacement probes are readily available.Southeast Florida - LBGE
In cooking, often we implement steps for which we have no explanations other than ‘that’s what everybody else does’ or ‘that’s what I have been told.’ Dare to think for yourself. -
I have the Thermoworks Smoke and I really like it. Very well built, very simple to set alarms and seems to be accurate. The soon to be released wifi gateway will be a nice add on.

Ok, inform me on the wifi tech. Does that mean I can get my temp info on my phone or can I play pandora on the monitor when I'm out cooking and relaxing by the grill?!

I have the smoke and its great. as for the wifi, you can check temps from your phone.

That would be a nice featureKent8621 said:I have the smoke and its great. as for the wifi, you can check temps from your phone. -
fireboard has a readout on the unit itself and uses both wifi or blutooth if wifi isn't available to send the info and graph to your phone.Pratt, KS

Checking temps on your phone is a great bit of info should you have a means to react if things go south. Otherwise, you are "reading the news and not shaping the news" and that could present a few challenges.
Just my 2 cents.Louisville; Rolling smoke in the neighbourhood. Life is too short for light/lite beer! Seems I'm livin in a transitional period. CHEETO (aka Agent Orange) makes Nixon look like a saint. -
Anyone thinking theymight get a Smoke and its separate WiFi gateway should take a look at the Fireboard as it is about the same price as that combo.“Reality is that which, when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away.” ― Philip K. Diçk

I have had this one for more then 3 years. I have had to replace probes when the got bent to far or just wore out. It is good for the price, but if I was looking for a new one it would be the smoke or the Tappecue. I am in hope though that the Meater I ordered will be here this summer, but I am not holding my breath on it.

Why would you consider a Tappecue and not a Fireboard?Ladeback69 said:I have had this one for more then 3 years. I have had to replace probes when the got bent to far or just wore out.
