I got the replacement under warranty from the dealer that I purchased the egg.  The old band / spring assembly was no longer holding the dome open in the raised position.

Does the new band design help eliminate alignment and gap issues?

@pgprescott, is that the change between 2007 and 2008?
I don't really see where they would do much.
I should have been more specific - the tabs that C~W designed and made had a bend to them and yes they did grip the dome.
    A pic is worth a 1000...

I hate it when I go to the kitchen for food and all I find are ingredients!

If it's like the xl the band holes are slotted on both sides so it gives some adjustment ability.

Got the new hinge about a month ago.  Fought the original tooth and nail he last year.  Replaced under warranty.  New one is awesome.

@Bentgrass "awesome" meaning better fit for the dome and base?  I'm getting  a new one to. I've tried to adjust my dome for the last 2 months , tried everything still can't get it aligned  correctly.

Yes, quick painless install.  I have felt for quite a while that an investment made in the Egg should not require the frequent adjustment in that hinge.  Every time I open the lid now, I feel that this is the way it should operate.

Anyway, I got the RPP gaskets and need to change out the gasket on my large, medium and little Joe.
LOL - not sure why you are procrastinating putting the gaskets on, but hey - they will last for YEARS so why rush? huh?  =)
