Salt block Chicken on the Egg

Tried my first cook with a salt black last night.
Chicken was seasoned and sitting in the refrigerator for a few hours.
A storm was rolling in so I wasn't sure I would be cooking on the egg, so I started heating the block and case iron pan in the oven (box looking thing in corner of kitchen).
Storm wasn't as bad as they said so I fired up the egg.
Chicken went on (Breast side down) with a case iron pan on top.
Pulled then temp reached 170
Cut lemons and placed on salt block for 2-3 minutes (thought the lemons looked and tasted great).
Nice salt flavor in chicken - not too strong.
Did some butternut squash for a side.
Wife and I agreed we will do this cook again.
Will say the new salt block does not look new anymore. Not sure how I will get that cleaned and ready for the second cook.
(Sorry pictures are in reverse order)

Cook looks great. I'll have to try the lemon next time. Just flip it to the other side and it's new again. Also, you can rinse it with warm water and scrape it with one of those plastic scrapers used to clean cast iron.

Great looking cook, I need to get a salt block soon.

Do not wash...Just cook on the other side and the fire will "clean" the first side. I just wire brush the side I'm getting ready to cook on so that I get a little of the salt effect.OKC area XL - Medium Eggs
