The woo

I'm really not sure exactly what it does that makes it necessary. Anyone care to expound?  Thanks. I just bought an XL for our lake house and getting my accessories together.

  • I have a woo and love it. Main pros for me are cooking raised at gasket level and ease of removing platesetter. Mine stays in my egg 95% of the time for cooking raised direct. Being able to remove platesetter and protein to add additional lump is so easy. To me there is no downside.

Sorry but I don't understand how it relates to the platesetter.
  • Yeah if you own a plate setter already it's an excellent addition.  Mine is only out to add lump

Yes I have a platesetter. I've looked at the woo but still don't understand how it relates to the platesetter.

The platesetter rests inside of the WOO, so when you lift the woo, the platesetter comes out with it.  I have one for my large and small.  I use it for most of my cooks.   I also have the extender so that I can cook at an even higher level, or dual zone cooking.  I recommend it!

    Ah. Got it. Thank you.
  • Are yall sure they make a plate setter woo for an XL?  I didnt think so. I thought the xl woo was made to use an 18" ceramic stone.

i think you could be right.  there are also no handles on the xl woo so maybe I wouldn't get it if I had an xl

Platesetter and woo don't play together on an XL.  Still, get the woo and stone and a grid to cook down low on the woo.
THANK YOU FOR YOUR ATTENTION TO THIS MATTER

Ok, I guess just mine then.  Or me.  Bought it maybe 9 months ago.  Platesetter is 3 years old.

  • Hmmm. That's interesting. Mine is fairly new as well. It doesn't fit as nice as the large does but it still works. Handles would be nice though, so the whole setup could be removed at the same time.

I went about 2 years before getting the woo and I kick myself almost every time I cook now for waiting so long. It just makes almost everything easier. I think others have covered all of the specific reasons, so I'll only add that you won't regret buying one.

I debated a long time on what to buy after having basic PlateSetter Set up.

Now I have the Woo, the PSWOO Platform and two half circles.  I dont take the WOO rack out, if I use the platesetter or my half stones.  My most common cook is with half raised direct half indirect.
