What's the deal with parasites being in wild hogs? do they have them like domestic hogs had in the past?
Do you have to be sure and cook a wild hog to a high temp to kill the parasites? assuming they have them?

I've posed this question many times before on various forums with nobody having a answer.
Hogs in the wild eat everything - they're opportunistic omnivores.  They get parasites and disease from their diet, other hogs, the uncontrolled environment.

Hogs on a farm have a controlled environment, food and veterinary care.  They are inspected pre and postmortem.

We used to go once a year.  This is the last one I shot in 2010.  I made burger and sausage out of all of it.

This was about 1.5 hrs from where I live in Greer, SC.

This is my buddy Mark Millis (from Michagan) or some know him as Uncle MIllie from hunting shows/channel.

My brother-in-law and I trap them and sometimes get close enough to stick one with a bow.  They stink to high heaven so we don't butcher them.....just sell them.  I'll get my pork from the butcher.

I watched a show on The Discovery Channel once, about feral hogs.  They said if a farm raised pig were to escape, it would start to change back to feral within 7 days, or some crazy short amount of time.  Elongated snout, grow fangs, hair and such.
Yep in 14 days this is what you get

I've seen and killed some big hogs in my time in south GA, but nothing like this. This pic looks doctored. I'll bet the victorious hunter is about 8 feet or so behind the hog with a wide f stop. I'm dubious........ ;)

  • @Dobie........OK, I'll give you that..............Hogzilla for sure.

I would have been cautious shooting this monster even from a tree stand.

    Scary hog!  :)

Is that a bear-hog crossbreed?  Holy smokes!
Buck fever is low grade compared to that hog fever.

I would have shat myself after touching down and seeing the piglets.

I'm not into abusing handicap people but, I'm not sure if I'd be able to restrain from making it to where this **** couldn't even use his joystick controller again!

    Odd comment.
