I have had the Woo2 and 17.5 stone after my Platesetter broke last year. We have relatives over for a rib BBQ in two weeks so I decided that it was time to order it. Looking forward to posting pics.

I've got the large version. I love the extra cooking area. You will enjoy it and use it often. I use mine sometime just because I can.Marshall in Beautiful Fruit Cove, FL.

Excited to hear your thoughts! I am looking to buy an XL soon and am weighing the pros and cons between a plate setter and the adjustable rig combo.XL BGE - Adjustable rig combo, Rutland gasket, 4:11 Positrac outback, 750 double pumper, Edelbrock intake

I would forget the platesetter and order the Woo 2 and the 17.5 stone. Later add the rig if you need it.Davie755 said:Excited to hear your thoughts! I am looking to buy an XL soon and am weighing the pros and cons between a plate setter and the adjustable rig combo. -
Or just go with the spider and the stone. I think that is a little cheaper.dstearn said:

I started out with the platesetter as I was unaware of the AR etc. at the time I bought my Egg. When my platesetter cracked I looked into replacement costs as it was out of warranty period. It was really not a lot more to get the Woo2/AR Combo at that time. That purchase made the best upgrade in cooking on my XL for me since the Thermapen. Money well spent.Davie755 said:Excited to hear your thoughts! I am looking to buy an XL soon and am weighing the pros and cons between a plate setter and the adjustable rig combo.A poor widows son.

I have the Woo and stone combo for my XL, it's much more flexible than the plate setter. I can cook direct, indirect, raised direct, I have a smaller CI grid that I place on the lower ring for searing, and I am considering getting a wok that will fit on the lower ring. Much easier to go from indirect to direct cooking, removing a stone is easier than removing a plate setter.Davie755 said:Excited to hear your thoughts! @dstearn is right on the money here...
The funny thing is i met tjv at a company function in his prior career and he talked to me about all the ceramic aftermarket stuff he was developing and two years later im in the store buying my first bge, an xl and got the platesetter, thin metal upper grid and frame etc and wasted about $350 on stuff i either threw away or gave away after i got on cgs accessory program
Very happy with versatility and capacity expansion cgs has provided.... -
The Woo will work with the platesetter if you already have it.

Now to get it dirty!

I dig all the comments, thanks to all.

I'll take the plate with three quarters on it!

What's a good rib rack if I'm looking to cook 4-5 racks on my large? I can lay down 2 full racks on my grid and I have jerry rigged an elevated rack which would make 4 easy to do, but am looking for something that I can cook 5 racks on 1 gridMemphis raised me, T-Town made me...Aint never been nothing but a winner

The BGE v rack is a rib rack when inverted. You will likely have to bend the racks to fit in the circle.tclamberth said:What's a good rib rack if I'm looking to cook 4-5 racks on my large?
