How do I calibrate the thermometer?

I searched the forum and the BGE website but I didn't find instructions for calibrating the thermometer.
I know about using boiling water and not letting the thermometer touch the pan. But how do I adjust the needle setting?
Thanks.

turn the nut on the back of the dial, which moves the needle relative to the scale on the dial, until it shows the correct temperature.

What really high temps? For an egg'd pizza, the most you need is 550° dome, maybe 600°. I bought the 1022° or whatever it is Tel-Tru, just for pizza. Did a couple of pies at 900-ish. Discovered the egg is not a wood fired oven. Finally just went back to the oven. My oven will do 725°. I don't even do that any more. 5-600 is fine.

I calibrated my thermometer today and also checked my instant read thermometer. The BGE one was a little off but it was pretty close when I finished calibrating. The instant read showed boiling water at 211.6 F. I actually got it a little better than the image shows. But its close enough for my needs and I usually use a pit probe for temp not the dome thermometer.

Nice. Yeah I would not go nuclear with the pizza. Just no need. I usually pull my thermometer if I accidentally get it higher than 700. Happens sometimes when I get side tracked. Just prefer not to leave in the thermometer. I usually go 550 or so and let stone heat for 30-40 mins before adding pie.Columbia, SC --- LBGE 2011 -- MINI BGE 2013
