Installing Smokeware Chimney

I installed my Chimney today and curious about something. When I installed it I noticed it wouldn't slide down all the way so I got a rubber mallet and tapped around until it was seated. About a 1/2 worth. The top fit fine and slides off and on easy.
My concern would be when I heat the egg and heat expands does anyone think this could cause a cracking? Maybe I am worrying over nothing.

No worries. Sit flush on bottom and top protrudes a bit.
I would rather light a candle than curse your darkness.

Yes it's flush on bottom. Nice fit if you ask me. Just was a little worried about clay vs. stainless steelXL BGE ~ XL AR ~ XL WOO ~ 20" grate ~ 17.5" stone ~ slide guides ~ Oval grate ~ 18" drip pan ~ Thermapen MK4 ~ SmokeWare SS chimney cap ~ Weber blue tooth thermometer

Once your felt takes a set it will come off and on easier.

I think your egg is ruined and the after-market mod just voided your warranty.
luckily, I'm a good dude and will come pick it up and haul it away free of charge. You're welcomeXL & MM BGE, 36" Blackstone - Newport News, VA -

No worries. Mine on the larges are so tight, they will never come off, and are considered part of the dome. You'll be fine.BrandonQuad Cities
