    Cool, I got the Kiritsuke there in the middle from Santa along with 4" paring knife and love them.  Trying to learn about sharpening with Japanese waterstones now.  Won't touch those two for a while.

    Eerie.  Not set up in any way.

    My kitchen...3 Japanese knives (similar, even the knife types/shapes), cutting block (similar?), pepper mill (not as fancy, but still similar).

    @logchief Japanese Knife Imports has some excellent sharpening videos on YouTube. Chef knives to go has a cheap(10 bucks) "practice" knife that you can get to learn with. I have a bunch of old knives I'm going to practice with before touching my Japanese blades.

    @Braggart: Is the middle one a Masakage? Looks like the Koishi series (super blue). I have the Honesuki.

    Middle and right are both Masakage.  Good eye.  Both are Koishi series made by Kato-san.

    The paring knife is a Shun classic.  Not the same quality as the Masakage, but a nice utility knife nonetheless.
