This is what they also said about the new big joe on the kj facebook $1899 for the big Joe but loaded with upgrades. Hinge / Top vent / Fire Box. Big Joe up$300 and classic $200.
I think this is where they will be making a big mistake. If they price these above the price of eggs, then they are going to loose market share. I actually think they made a mistake with pricing already. They used to be cheaper then eggs, but then at some point they got to be "about the same price" but "you get more stuff". I think many people, especially new buyers, don't get past the "about the same price" part. Note I am mainly referring to the classic and the XL. The Joe Jr still currently has a price advantage over the mini-max. I honestly don't see any huge improvement with these features that would want me to shell out $300 more.

Which came first the chicken or the egg?  I egged the chicken and then I ate his leg.

@alynd  Can you explain what you mean by "stand alone unit"?  I would assume each egg is a stand alone unit...

In the past, KJ sold the classic size and Big Joe with the stand or with no stand. The "no stand" unit was called stand alone unit and came with stainless hardware as a bonus.

A stand alone unit is meant for an outdoor kitchen or to go in a table, usually. Doesn't have the mounting tabs on the bands for the side shelves. Did have some nice stainless hardware but apparently that's going away. At least that is what I took away from the design when shopping a while back. I agree with SmokeyPitt...push the price up 250-300 and good luck with that...

Here's a pic of the cart model and the stainless stand alone model. Each was the same price. Too bad they are losing the SS in the next stand alone's but they will be cheaper so there is that.
