Looking for some opinions on thermometers.
I have been looking at the http://www.thermoworks.com/Thermapen-Mk4 and the http://www.thermoworks.com/ChefAlarm
I had a blue tooth thermometer but it doesn't stay connected even 30 feet away. What are your thoughts on thermometers?
Thanks

Thermapen is a great tool, wouldn't be without it. As far as leave-in thermos go, I have the Thermoworks DOT and it works great, ChefAlarm is a step up. Both are solid choices. If you want remote monitoring of the leave-in, check out the Smoke by Thermoworks.They/Them

+1 on Thermapen. Keep your cooking and rectal thermometers in different places. Seriously

I would rather light a candle than curse your darkness.

I have 3 Thermapens, 4 Chef Alarms, 2 Dots, and 1 Smoke. I think Thermoworks is the standard by which all other thermometers are measured. Great products!!

@MattBTI Any long term reliability info on the Fireboard products? Weather resistance info?Southeast Florida - LBGE
In cooking, often we implement steps for which we have no explanations other than ‘that’s what everybody else does’ or ‘that’s what I have been told.’ Dare to think for yourself. -
Just called Thermoworks. Purchased the MK4 and will get the smoke once the Wifi module is ready to sell. I figure the price will be bundled by then. I hear it will be before the summer by them today.XL BGE ~ XL AR ~ XL WOO ~ 20" grate ~ 17.5" stone ~ slide guides ~ Oval grate ~ 18" drip pan ~ Thermapen MK4 ~ SmokeWare SS chimney cap ~ Weber blue tooth thermometer

i've only used mine once...just got it a week ago. I like it. It's highly customizable and never lost signal. Even checked it while I was filling a deer feeder 5 miles away (wifi feature). They're coming out with a weather-proof case. I also like the internal rechargeable battery...super handy because I don't have outlets on my patio. There is talk about a blower being introduced for it in the future as well.jtcBoynton said:@MattBTI Any long term reliability info on the Fireboard products? Weather resistance info?Pratt, KS -
