Boston butt mistake

DesertSnow
Posts: 67
so I was in the middle of a Boston butt and got an emergency call for work...I was at it ot 170...I'll be at work for at least 4 hours...I took it off(already wrapped in foil) and placed it in a cooler....can it be salvaged when I get home or is it garbage since I'll have to reheat it? I kept my egg at 250 just in case I can salvage...any help is appreciated

I think you'll be fine for salvage. Just check the temp a few places when you get back. Preferably above 140 which it should be. Then just resume the cook.Sandy Springs & Dawsonville Ga

It will be fine, if you need to eat in 4 hours when you get home you can slice it. If you want it to pull throw it back on, in the foil, and crank up the egg to 350 and take it off when you have an IT of 195, then you can pull it._________________________________________________Don't let the truth get in the way of a good story!Large BGE 2006, Mini Max 2014, 36" Blackstone, Anova Sous Vide

Butts are very forgiving, when you get home do as @JRWhitee said and resume cook. You can raise the temp to 350 or so and you can't tell the difference in the final product.Lenoir, N.C.

Looks great, bro! You just need some good ol' SC mustard based BBQ sauce for it now.

you could have just left it cooking in the egg, it would have been done when you got homefukahwee maineyou can lead a fish to water but you can not make him drink it
