I'm doing a turkey at 350. But the fire went down to 300 and I can't get back to 350. Added charcoal but still at 300!with the vents totally open. Help

Leave lid open and make sure you are getting airflow. If it's lit give it some time it will come back.Greensboro, NC

Open the bottom vent and stick something in there to stir the lump around.Slumming it in Aiken, SC.

If you have a stock grate (what charcoal lays on) get a coat hanger, bend end and stick it up through bottom vent and poke up through holes in grate. I'm betting ash is clogging up holes and your not getting enough air flow.

Could take a while to read 350 again after tossing on a turkey. Just saying...

No help to you at this point... call me captain hindsight... but you'd be surprised how much ash gets caked behind, around, and underneath the firebox. Need to remove everything and shop-vac it all out once in a while and definitely before an important cook. Makes so much of a difference. If you have the turkey in there with new lump, you may want to cover the turkey. VOCs
at least until the smoke smells clean -
300 is fine. I did. 15 pounder today and the temp hovered around 300-315. It actually got done sooner than I thought it would.1 LBGE. Winder, GA
