Pellets for smoking question

i have the Amazen Smoker tube (12") along with several different flavors of pellets. I am wondering if anyone has used the tube on an egg and if so how did you use it?
Anyone just thrown on some pellets for smoke? Do they just burn up too fast to add any real smoke flavor.

You could use this when you want to do a cold-smoke. I am guessing, but I think you could light it on the fire grate, add the plate setter, drip pan, grate, then the meat and it should cold smoke fish or whatever else you want cold-smoked.

I have used oak pellets for smoke several times with brisket and beef ribs. Works fine IMO. The tube is better used for cold smoke or on gassers. Certainly it won't hurt anything.

You can cold smoke cheese or fish. I would assume you could use for bacon or jerky. I am no expert on any of these, but there are several very knowledable folks on this forum.

Did you just toss loose pellets into the lump or use the tube?pgprescott said:I have used oak pellets for smoke several times with brisket and beef ribs. Works fine IMO. The tube is better used for cold smoke or on gassers. Certainly it won't hurt anything.Marshall in Beautiful Fruit Cove, FL.

I haven't used them but if I had some I'd use them like chips“There are three rules that I live by: never get less than twelve hours sleep; never play cards with a guy who has the same first name as a city; and never get involved with a woman with a tattoo of a dagger on her body.”

I'm making wings again tonight....my family has a serious addiction to the damn things. I'll throw some pellets into the lump and see what kind of smoke they produce.Just bought an Egg? Here is what you get to look forward to now:
Plate Setter, FlameBoss 200, Spider, PSWOO-CI, Additional Rig Shelf for dome cooking, Thermapen, iGrill2, Cast Iron, Blackstone, Cooking Accessories for the Blackstone, Cover for the Egg and the Blackstone, shopping for Rub like a fine wine or IPA, and a new fascination with lump and what brand is the best-all to be debated every Friday Night. Next desires-Joetisceriie, Adjustable Rig, Grillmates, table and more eggs

Bacon needs a LOT more smoke (at < 190 degrees) probably longer than a 12" tube could maintain. -
Paging @The_Cen_Tex_Smoker as he has a great amount of experience with your rig and the BGE.Louisville; Rolling smoke in the neighbourhood. Life is too short for light/lite beer! Seems I'm livin in a transitional period. CHEETO (aka Agent Orange) makes Nixon look like a saint.

Thanks. Let me know how it works out. I have a sampler kit with 5 different flavor 1lb bags. I would love to use them for smoke.tikigriller said:I'm making wings again tonight....my family has a serious addiction to the damn things.
