I am about an hour in to my first BGE smoke. I have smoked many many times on my smoker but this is a first for my egg. Picked up the flame boss and going to do this smoke overnight.

Is that a normal amount of smoke chunks?  I am not putting anywhere close to enough in if it is.

    Love your our set up.
Just bought an Egg?  Here is what you get to look forward to now:

Plate Setter, FlameBoss 200, Spider, PSWOO-CI, Additional Rig Shelf for dome cooking, Thermapen, iGrill2, Cast Iron, Blackstone, Cooking Accessories for the Blackstone, Cover for the Egg and the Blackstone, shopping for Rub like a fine wine or IPA, and a new fascination with lump and what brand is the best-all to be debated every Friday Night.  Next desires-Joetisceriie, Adjustable Rig, Grillmates, table and more eggs

  • Update:
its cherry and the smoke flavor is mild compared to some others. I guess we will see after this if it was too much. Let's hope not.

Looks nice!   Make sure you add a paver underneath the egg though.

Have never foiled a butt, but of course no harm or foul.  Looks delicious!  Nice plate brother.

Me neither.  There's enough fat in a butt to keep it juicy during a loooong cook.  It's not like a brisket.  But like you said, don't suppose it would do any harm.

Foiling will help push the butt through the stall faster when cooking at low temps, it will soften the bark, it will prevent any additional smoke from adhering to the butt.  None of them are good or bad - just differences.

    How was the smoke flavor?

The smoke flavor was right on it had an awesome smoke ring. I use a dry rub and let that sit in the fridge for a few hours before I put on the smoker. Sorry can't reveal my rub. This time we had a home made Dr Pepper BBQ but my fav sauce is a mustard balsamic sauce that's so awesome just did not have enough stuff on hand to make it.

The foil was just to push it through the stall but the drawback is the bark is not as crispy as I like it. Give and take.

I will I'll also be getting a later from the locat hardware store tomorrow I had no idea I needed both.
