There is a second one hooked up to the gasser ready to go! Not like I will be using it on the gasser anymore.Just bought an Egg? Here is what you get to look forward to now:

Looks great. All you really need to coat it is flaxseed oil. Everything else is bonus. Good luck.

A lot of cast iron guys (me included) have had very bad luck with Flaxseed oil. I've never had to reseason a cast iron pan (after I put my own on), except for the 3 that I tried flaxseed on. Seems to me someone on the forum had a similar incident with their blackstone.
btw - great looking seasoning - looks good to go. have fun.Phoenix -

I had bad luck with flax on my black steel pans. Burned them clean and tried a few times. Could not get the flax to hold.blasting said:

Fun to cook on. Still have to find my rhythm. I was worried about cleaning the grill prior to eating my burger. Didn't know what to do. Turn it off then go back and turn it on again, or just clean it and oil it really fast after the food is off.

In retrospect, if I had it to do all over again, I'd still get the 36 inch one. Even on "small" cooks, the extra space helps.

Hey tiki. Do you smoke on the Green Mountain or the Egg. And why?
I was seriously considering the GMG before I bought the Egg. Can't but one any time soon but it is still on my wish list.Marshall in Beautiful Fruit Cove, FL.

@saintjohnsegger as of right now, I cook all meat on the Egg, and find myself doing my sides on the GMG. When I first got the Egg, I would do one of each...rack on the Egg, rack on the GMG, one chicken on the Egg, one on the GMG, and routinely, without them knowing which was which, everyone always preferred the meat coming off the Egg vs. the GMG.
I am not honestly very impressed with the GMG and would personally not recommend it. They CS is excellent, and perhaps I just got a bad one, but I had issues right out of the box, which muct have been fate, because it is what ultimately brought me to the Egg. I also get a much better smoke flavor from the Egg, because I do not have an Smoke Tube for the GMG and the pellets themselves really do not seem to provide too much smoke flavor vs. the Egg.
if you are set on adding a pellet smoker to your collection, I would save up and go for the more expensive ones. There really is a difference in quality and feel IMHO. However, with THAT being said, I would also just add a second Egg vs. a pellet smoker. The Egg simply is that much more versatile to me. The Egg is also much easier to clean. You have no choice but to get the shop vac out to clean the GMG and that is a PIA. Even with the settings on the GMG at 500 degrees, I could never get the Grid Temp above 470.
I will have to try some meat on the GMG again now that I have learned as much as I have around here and see if I notice an improvement. I will be doing Enchilada's tonight, and will probably use the GMG if it isn't raining. The GMG is also faster to be ready to go, and really is a set it and forget it at ANY temp you use....
My buddy is coming down in two weeks and he is a Traeger boy. Got one before they started making them in China, so he has a good one. Will be interesting to see what his thoughts are about the Egg. I am probably not being smart by going for my second brisket to show off the Egg, but what the hell...go big or go home!Just bought an Egg? Here is what you get to look forward to now:

Thanks @tikigriller. Since it is so far off into the future I'll probably just forget about it or get something like a Memphis or a Yoder if I ever get one.
Just got a propane fire pit today to add to my assortment of back yard toys so I am on a strict budget for a while (actually for a long while...).Marshall in Beautiful Fruit Cove, FL.

So I get the point of these, and am tempted. I have been doing smash burgers on the EGG in a cast iron skillet which isn't exactly efficient or easy. If I already have a gasser, couldn't I just go to a steel fabrication shop and have them make me a flattop to fit? Be gentle with your responses, I'm fairly ignorant when it comes to these types of things.

Shop no more...they even work better because it's housed in a grill. At least if you have cook with any amount of wind.Thank you,DarianGalveston Texas -
@dorfami a cheaper option might be the little griddle. They are not sized for a specific grill they just come in a few different sizes.
https://www.littlegriddle.com/collections/all/outdoor
Another example:
https://www.amazon.com/Little-Griddle-SQ180-Universal-Stainless/dp/B000HQHBSQ
They had that one at Sam's club for $47 but it is sold out now.
Which came first the chicken or the egg? I egged the chicken and then I ate his leg. -
Thanks. So I guess the gasser can get hot enough? That was part of my concern. We have a few clients do steel fabrication, so sourcing custom work shouldn't be an issue.
