Let there be light...

With the days getting shorter and nighttime cooks becoming the norm, I picked up the smokeware light yesterday. Super easy to install, and it will be nice to not have to hold my phone over the fire for some light.

Is this the one that hooks into the handle?  I have one as well, but need to get new batteries for it.  It works nice, but I don't like leaving in its holder when I going over 300.

Definitely a great add for the extended duration evenings.
BTW- for those who have the older style narrow handle width BGEs, weber makes a light that fits and provides plenty of illumination.  Linked here:

  • @Ladeback69 that's the one. I'm not planning to leave it in there at all. It's so easy to slide in and out of the bracket I'll probably do that each time I check on my food. I also like the fact that the light is pretty generic and easily replaced for $5, just in case I do melt it. The bracket is really what I spent my money on.

I have the handle light, but no joke, you may look silly, but this is the best thing in a world of not being able to add actual lights!!!   Everywhere I look, I have light!  Problem is I forget to turn it off, walk in the house, look at my wife, and blind her!!!

Just bought an Egg?  Here is what you get to look forward to now:

Plate Setter, FlameBoss 200, Spider, PSWOO-CI, Additional Rig Shelf for dome cooking, Thermapen, iGrill2, Cast Iron, Blackstone, Cooking Accessories for the Blackstone, Cover for the Egg and the Blackstone, shopping for Rub like a fine wine or IPA, and a new fascination with lump and what brand is the best-all to be debated every Friday Night.  Next desires-Joetisceriie, Adjustable Rig, Grillmates, table and more eggs

I just hold a Surefire in my mouth. Been doing it since day one with the egg.

I tried one of those headband lights, but didn't care for it. Needed two hands to turn it on or off, kept slipping, had to readjust when wearing a hat. Thankfully, it broke. =)

You should figure out a way to attach a mouth piece on the end...better for your chicklets!

Headlamps are awesome.  Camping, hunting, fishing, grilling, would be lost without them.

The Weber Q light cap mentioned is on my small, great add on.

I thought about this light, but decided on the smokeware one because it requires no adjustment light up the whole grid and the light part easily slides in and out of the bracket without having to make any adjustments.

You know, I've been telling myself that for ages. So, thanks to you, I just went out to the garage and cut off a piece of an old bicycle inner tube and stretched it over the last inch or so of the flashlight. It feels MUCH nicer than before. Very snug fit too, so it should stay put. Thanks for the prod.

Have you had this long? Just wondering how it's holding up to the heat when the dome is open.

I've been using this old hard hat with mounted light for years making the wearing very comfortable. Amazing thing is it always knows where I am looking! =)

Earlier I had a "Night Blaster" light with 2 C batteries that got heavy, but this little LED bugger shown above is so much lighter and brighter!

I've had it for about 4 months now.

But I take it off when igniting the egg or when cooking pizza at 650ºF to avoid damage by direct flame or high heat

At all other times it is on the handle with no damage whatsoever, including searing steaks at 550ºF

Thanks! Price is right too. May have to add one to my next order.
