Please tell me that wasn't KETCHUP!! Please!!

    And pickles on a pizza?

That said, awesome father son thing. Wish I had been more into cooking when my boys were that age. They'e coming around. Some. But one is now 41, the other, 38. =)

I hate it when I go to the kitchen for food and all I find are ingredients!

    Lol
It's ok, no ketchup was wasted.  We used Gates Original BBQ sauce.

The pickles were his thing, and actually pretty decent when cooked.

Thanks bud, we had fun today.  Good to hear that they're coming around, it's never too late.  :)

This was a great thread and pictures.  Very timely too as I screwed up some pizza's on my Egg.  Wife and I watching TV and I read the title and she cracked up.  I told her I need some lessons!  Great pictures and great looking pizza you and your chef made!

You're too kind bud.  My goal, is to teach him everything, so I can post up, drink and eat, while he cooks it all.  =)

PICKLES!!!   I love it.  'Never tried them on pizza, but I will.

How much grease do you put in the pan for those cast iron pizza cooks?  Can I just give it a quick spray or do you need to give it a healthy dose of butter?

I don't think you took enough pictures, LOL.

Great job teaching him young. I'm planning on doing the same. And the pizza looks great. I did a cast iron pizza Saturday night as well but cheated and put it in the big metal box in the kitchen.

I love this, I've let my kids make their own pizzas but I always cook them. I need to let them try one of these cast iron deep dish style. Fantastic work the boy did there!

The pickles got started at our family restaurant in Port Byron, IL Riverbend Pizza.  My cousins put out a good QC style pie.  Our family birthdays, celebrations, are usually held there.  Shirley brought a white sauce, sausage and pickle pizza, everybody loved it, including my boy.

Recipe calls for 1-2 tablespoons of EVOO.  I use only one, which is plenty.  No butter is needed.  But the oil is what fries the crust golden brown.
