Blackstone Griddle season question

Finally got one of these bad boys and can't wait to live out all of my waffle  house short  order cook fantasies, but first I need to season it. I have been making a lot of beef broth and therefore have about half a gallon of tallow in my fridge. Can I use that? What's the best thing to use? I need it nice and slippery for, uhhhhh, reasons.

    Congrats @nolabrew   I'm sure you will love it.

    I followed the instructions of of charring some green onions, then frying a bunch of bacon.

    I think the trick to getting / keeping a slick surface is to clean it while it's still warm and put on a thin coat of oil.

  • I use lard . . . I see no reason why tallow wouldn't work. Plus I feel lard protects it better in between cooks

    vegetable Oil for me, two nights in a row, then two onions with oil another night, then lots of bacon and smash burgers.  Clean after each cook and oil lightly.
