Ceramic Grill Store set up for and XL

Even folks. Thinking about buying some of his gear for an XL. All of the components for our XL are of the newer design. Don't know if the plate setter has ever changed but we got ours in 05 or so. Thought I read someplace on his site that the plate setter can be incorporated into his equipment.
Looking to do low and slows as well as pizzas....so what can of set ups do you folks have on your XL's? Would appreciate hearing the pros & cons of each particular setup...
We have one of his Adjustable Rigs with the Extender for our Large. I use it every time I cook. Would like to start using the XL some...

I have the woo and rig for mine. I couldn't tell you the last time when I havnt at least used one of them. But I use the woo the most. I way prefer raised direct grilling to regular.

I would suggest giving them a call or sending an email.  It sounds like you have the original XL with the squatty dome so it may affect the fit.

On this page they discuss taking a measurement:
    https://ceramicgrillstore.com/pages/what-fits-my-xl-woo-ring

This only mentions the woo, not the AR.

Which came first the chicken or the egg?  I egged the chicken and then I ate his leg.

BTW: also check out the Kamado Joe Big Joe rack system.  Thats what I ended up going with in my XL.  Its great.  I like the half moon plate setter and the multiple height options for rack/deflector.

I'll second this. That's what I did. They are great to talk to. Ended up with the AR, two grates, the slider, woo, and wok.
Going to go back for seconds for one of my L's for Christmas I hope.

I purchased the newer dome...for this very reason. I bought it close to a year ago already. Been one thing after another lately...anything and everything that can go wrong has.. I got the newer style fire ring & firebox  under warranty when the original parts broke. I purchased a new fire grate on Monday...even that has changed a bit over the one that came with my Egg back when I got it...

    Hey Doug,
What change did they make to the XL fire grate?
That's one I did not know about.
    Thanks

I have a newer XL, but my current replacement fire box is the older model and it makes the grill grate at the felt line so I can not use the AR, but I have an homemade raised grate that works just fine for me right now with my plate setter.  The woo would be nice to have and may still get it.

Wish we lived closer together because I would swap you.
I like the older fire box better.
More room for ash below the fire grate. Less cleaning required and I could swear I got more even temps/lump burn with the older fire box.

I will be cleaning it out later today, hopefully.  Will take a picture of both grates side by side. The new one feels thinner than the old....will measure both of them.

Have no idea why the new one turned white. Felt like it had a coating of some sort. I couldn't sleep last night, was out side having a small bon fire...had some odd shaped cherry splits that I didn't want to use in my Reverse Flow...anyway...the old one measured .275" thick...new one .225". Old one the holes are 3/4", new are 1/2". The new one is a bit smaller in diameter than the old. I will put the new one in the cracked base I have...I have a firebox that is in several pieces to use. Load it up with some chunk and see if it changes color...
