And no one has referenced The Who yet? Shame on y'all.
That was the first thing I thought of, but I already made a reference to a song today, and was worried there is a limit of 1 per day. And I damned sure am not  about to mention that I bought a box of center cut lump today. :s

Every single cook so far was direct. I never tried to hide that. Stated that I was cooking on the Mini Egg. Hopefully this week I'll get the chance to cook baby back ribs which is medium cook (4-5 hours). Most likely I'll still use the mini since its plenty big for one rack.

Use nothing but grass fed dry aged center cut.  Stupid not to.

I just experienced my first emergency......getting ready to make a quick pork chop and didn't want to walk to the garage for the BGE cause the magic lump was in the buckets, so it's a magic cook tonight!!!

actually, when I put it in I finally figured out what it reminded me of....black fiberglass.
Just bought an Egg?  Here is what you get to look forward to now:

Plate Setter, FlameBoss 200, Spider, PSWOO-CI, Additional Rig Shelf for dome cooking, Thermapen, iGrill2, Cast Iron, Blackstone, Cooking Accessories for the Blackstone, Cover for the Egg and the Blackstone, shopping for Rub like a fine wine or IPA, and a new fascination with lump and what brand is the best-all to be debated every Friday Night.  Next desires-Joetisceriie, Adjustable Rig, Grillmates, table and more eggs

Had another direct cook tonight. Yes I weighed the lump; 2.7 oz. I don't write  things down but I am cooking direct using way less than 3 oz per cook. I got 5 more boxes of the Char-Broil lump. While the original box is still 90% full, I think its time to open another box. Evidently, the box I originally purchased is extra ordinary. I'm sure, based on other comments, the other boxes will be useless in regards to cooking on the Egg. Surely, no one can get two magical boxes of lump; one after the other. If I do, I am also playing the Powerball.

My wife has a.....no, I'll leave that one alone.

I don't blame you unless you want me to fill in the blank!

I don't think it'll work. Perhaps with you're wisdom you can get a cook on it! After all you got way more postings than I do. That must account for something!
  • I bought 4 boxes of the center cut lump and I don't even have an egg yet. May try it out in the Webber kettle this weekend.

Just finishing up on baby back ribs. 'Center Cut' is for marketing. I burned a tad over 10 ounces cooking the ribs for 5 hours. It's a little more than I was expecting. Still not bad. The lump lights quick, little to no smoke, and gets the egg up to grilling temps faster than any other lump. With those qualities its the perfect lump for quick cooks. For longer cooks those attributes become less important. It's a bargain at $8 a box. At full retail price of $24, I'll move on.

I hope that is sincere. The Char-Broil lump does not do great on longer cooks; it does Ok. Tonight was my first chance to use it on more than high and quick.

It is sincere. I can see it working for smaller eggs. It's just not good in anything bigger and no matter the price, I would never buy it again. I'm actually going to see if I can return or exchange it. I list the receipt but I am sure I can find $50 worth of stuff to exchange it for at Lowes. It will be hard, but I will find a way.
